Believers Church Uttarakhand organized an awareness program on International Literacy Day in a small village. Thirty people including men and women attended the program that day.
Most people in this village are illiterate because they had to stop going to school at an early age to work and earn income for their family. So, Women’s Fellowship members organized the program to educate them the importance and role of education in the development of their social and personal lives.
The people who attended the program were greatly encouraged and decided to learn how to read and write. “I dropped my studies after 8th due to my family’s financial problems and thereafter I went for job,” said Santha, one of the participants. “But, now I have decided to study further.”
Believers Church educates people how to read and write through adult literacy programs and motivates them to teach others through awareness programs.
