In an effort to bring warmth and comfort to those in need, Believers Eastern Church Archdiocese of Kathmandu organized a Winter Clothes Distribution Program on February 3, 2025. As part of this initiative, 18 leprosy affected individuals were provided with woolen sweaters to help them cope with the harsh winter cold.
The beneficiaries of this program reside in Lipikot Leprosy Camp, located in Budhanilkantha Municipality, Kathmandu. Established by the government in 1995, the camp is home to over 200 individuals from across Nepal, many of whom have been abandoned by their families and left homeless due to the stigma of leprosy. Some residents were even rescued from the streets of Kathmandu. While the camp provides free medical treatment, it does not offer food or clothing, leaving many of its inhabitants to sustain themselves through begging or various forms of labor.
Understanding their urgent need for warm clothing, Archdiocese of Kathmandu extended its helping hand, distributing woolen sweaters to bring relief to 18 residents of the leprosy camp. These individuals, affected by leprosy, are physically challenged, with some also being visually impaired and helpless. Each recipient expressed heartfelt gratitude for the thoughtful gesture, acknowledging how such support makes a meaningful difference in their lives during the cold winter months.
Through such acts of kindness, Believers Eastern Church continues to embody the love of Christ by serving the marginalized and uplifting those in distress.
