On June 29, 2024, the office bearers of the Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches, led by President Most Rev. K.F. Paradesi Babu (The Moderator of the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church), Vice-President Most Rev. John SDR Nakka (The Primate of India Christian Mission Church), General Secretary Adv. Dr. Govada Sudheer Babu (Church of South India), and Joint-Treasurer Rev. Fr. Varaprasad Rao Peyyala (The Vicar General of Hyderabad Diocese of Believers Eastern Church), met with Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, the honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in Amaravati, Vijayawada, A.P.
During the meeting, the delegation felicitated the newly elected Chief Minister and his government. The APCC extended its best wishes to the Chief Minister and pledged its full support to the government. The meeting was significant, with the honourable Chief Minister keenly listening to the delegation and assuring his government’s support to the APCC and the churches in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, the office bearers submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
1. Constructing a church building in the existing Secretariat/CRDA region of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
2. Addressing the long-pending issue of grant-in-aid posts.
3. Providing burial grounds for the Christian community in Andhra Pradesh.
4. Addressing the concerns regarding religious freedom.
The honourable Chief Minister assured his full support and promised to address all issues raised by the APCC.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister applauded the various community-transformative initiatives of the churches and appreciated their services in the fields of education, medical care, and aid to the poor and needy.
