Believers Church Uttarakhand held an awareness program in one of its Bridge of Hope centers on World No Tobacco Day, 31st May 2014.
The program started with an awareness rally. In the rally, people carried placards and banners and raised slogans.
Mr. Samuel Sahu (medical personnel) talked to the people about the health hazards of tobacco consumption especially about oral cancer, lung cancer and cardiac problems. He encouraged people to say no to alcohol and alcohol consumption.
A video show which demonstrated the physical impact of smoking was played for the public. Some people said that they were shocked by the video, because they never thought that smoking a cigarette could affect their health to this extent. Most of the people came forward and promised that they would say no to tobacco.
Sis. Anita said, “I thank Believers Church for arranging an awareness program among us. Really it was very good…My husband also takes tobacco. I will try to help him to get rid of it.”
Spreading awareness is one of the best ways to reduce tobacco consumption. Believers Church reached thousands of people through awareness programs on this World No Tobacco Day.
