On 25th July 2014, a poverty alleviation program was held in the Diocese of Jorhat. Seventy-eight people received gifts on that day; the gifts included tin sheets, sewing machines, pulling carts and bicycles.
Bishop B. Sunderraj inaugurated the program, in which Mr. Sunil Siakia (Village Head) was the chief guest. In his short speech the chief guest said, “The majority of the villagers are under poverty line and they are in great need. I have seen many organizations doing social work, but what the church is doing is wonderful.”
Bro. Bikash said, “I am from a very poor family, I don’t have a proper house; whenever rain came I used to stay in other’s houses. But now Believers Church has given me tin sheets, which I can use to make my house and live peacefully.”
These gifts will make a huge difference in the lives of the recipients. The church uplifts the lives of thousands of poor and needy people through the poverty alleviation project.
