The commissioning service of Sisters of Compassion was held on 28th February 2014. A total of 72 sisters were commissioned to be part of the Sisters of Compassion order. This service marked the completion of half of their six-month training period. The sisters represented four different language groups.
Bishop Dr. Samuel Mathew prayed for them and presented them with white saris, which identify them as Sisters of Compassion. He also encouraged the sisters to work for the needy and downtrodden.
The sisters were very happy and showed keen interest in serving the people.
“God has given me grace to reach up to this level,” said Sis. Sushmita, “and I got the privilege to be part of the commissioning service. The Lord has answered my prayer today; I had a desire to serve Him. The way I have promised before God, I want to continue to do this ministry and honor Him.”
After the remainder of their training, the sisters will be dedicated to work along leprosy patients, orphans, slum dwellers, and the most neglected people of the society.
