A new batch of 72 Sisters of Compassion began their training at Believers Church’s Synod Secretariat on 3rd February. They represent four groups, who will receive training in Hindi, English, Manipuri and Nepali mediums.
During orientation, which occurred the previous week, Metropolitan Dr. K.P. Yohannan challenged the sisters to live life in a meaningful way. He spoke of his dream to eventually have 5,000 Sisters of Compassion serving the neglected of society.
During their six months of training, the sisters will learn about practical subjects such as first aid and child psychology. They will also spend time increasing their devotion to God.
Believers Church’s Sisters of Compassion effectively serve thousands of leprosy patients, slum-dwellers, orphans and widows.
