670 Widows Gifted With Income-Generating Tools and Sarees in Diocese of Ranchi

Believers Church Diocese of Ranchi organized special programs where various income-generating gifts and sarees were distributed to widows in commemoration of International Widows Day. The programs were held in two places on 23rd and 26th June 2016 respectively.

Mrs. Kiran Bara (District Council Speaker) and Dr. Mahua Manjhi (Chairperson, Jharkhand State Women’s Commission) were invited as chief guests for the programs. They inaugurated the events and distributed different items such as sewing machines, pigs, goats and sarees to the needy widows gathered at the event.

The church helped a total of 670 widows through the gift distribution programs.

Sunami Tirkey, a widow, said, “I am grateful to the church for providing me with a new sewing machine. With this, I will be able to earn a steady income, which was not possible before”.
