544 People Benefit from Poverty Alleviation Program in Kolkata Diocese

Believers Church Kolkata Diocese organized a poverty alleviation program on 22nd February 2014. More than 544 people benefited from the program, where the church distributed 128 van rickshaws, 144 bicycles, 17 goats, 29 cows, 77 tin sheets, 139 sewing machines and 10 solar lights.

Shri Sisir Adhikary (MP, Lok Sabha) was the chief guest of the program. In his short speech he appreciated the work of Believers Church among the poor and the needy. Bishop Dr.Juria Bardhan also took part in the program, showing his desire to help the community make a steady income.

Sis. Gouri said that, “Me and my family used to suffer badly in the rainy season. Rainwater used to come inside our house, but now the church gave me tin sheets. From now onward I will not worry about rain anymore.”

Believers Church conducts poverty alleviation programs to help the community members to break the cycle of poverty.
