Believers Church Diocese of Chennai distributed food supplies to 500 flood-hit families on 19th November 2015.
The continuous rain had caused a disastrous flood in the villages of Chennai, Cuddalore and Chidambaram Districts. Lower-level places and villages, one-story buildings, huts, roads and subways are completely submerged in the water. Even the airport, railway station and bus stands are also flooded with water. No one is able to move around as the transportation facilities have been ceased for a while. The rate of food supplies and water packets has gone higher and the ATMs ran out of money. Now, people are struggling because of hunger and thirst, but are unable to afford food supplies or water.
Realizing their need, the church decided to provide them with some relief supplies. The church visited an affected village in Cuddalore District and distributed food kits containing 8 kg rice, 500 g salt, 500 g tamarind, 250 kg chilli powder, half liter oil and one liter phenoil to 500 families there.
Believers Church will be doing more relief works in the affected areas of Chennai and its surrounding districts to reach out to the victims with help.
