During the month of June 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Mumbai held school supply distribution programs in different places through Bridge of Hope.
School bags, notebooks, pen, pencil, eraser, sharpener and scale were given to children coming from economically backward families including tribal and slum children. They also were provided with hygiene supplies such as face powder and hair oil.
The children and their parents expressed their joy and thanks to the church for this kind help.
“I was worried about my children’s education needs. When their school re-opened, we were unable to buy notebooks for them. But, today my children not only received a set of free notebooks but also other school supplies” said Anita Jadhav, a mother of two children.
On seeing the gifts, tears began to form in the eyes of another mother who said, “We had decided not to send our children to school for first few days as they did not have notebooks, bag etc. But now they can go to school on the first day of school itself. Thank you so much for these gifts”.
Nearly 4,000 children received necessary school supplies through the distribution programs.
