Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Birtamod distributed warm blankets to the people living in an isolated village in Panchthar District, Nepal on 21 December 2021.
A majority of the people of this village earn their livelihood through cultivation and cattle rearing. As this village is situated on a remote mountainous region, temperature significantly drops every winter, leaving people vulnerable to the effects of extreme cold weather.
The vicar general of the diocese handed out the blankets to the poor villagers to help them survive the harsh winter. Altogether, 40 poor families were provided with warm blankets during the distribution program. The beneficiaries were extremely happy to receive the blankets.
One of the recipients by name Bir Bahadur Rai said, “This distribution program is remarkable to me that for the first time I have received such a valuable gift. Most of the time I live in jungles tending sheep. Thank you for coming to my shed to gift me this warm blanket. May God bless your kind heart.”
Another beneficiary named Raj Kumar Rai said, “My family’s financial condition is very weak. I have three children. One of my daughters is staying with my in-laws due to poor financial condition. Today I saw how much the church cares for the poor and needy people in society. Thank you for this precious gift.”
Surya Kumar Begha said, “I work as a mason to feed my family. Thank you for gifting me this beautiful blanket to keep myself and my family warm during this winter.”
