30 Families Receive BioSand Water Filters to Purify Arsenic-Contaminated Water

The Diocese of Kolkata distributed BioSand water filters on 23rd July 2014. One hundred people attended the program, in which 30 families received water filters.

Mr. Mritunjoy Paik (Panchayat Pradhan) was the chief guest of the program. Bro. Amal (BioSand water filter department) explained the usage and maintenance of the water filters to the beneficiaries.

Most of the villagers depended on a nearby tube well for water, and the water was not clean. The water contained arsenic and also had a bad smell, but the people still used the water directly without filtering it. The villagers had been using this unhygienic water for a long time, unaware of the health issues.

Sis. Bhaggori was using dirty and polluted water from the nearby pond. She came forward and thanked the church and said, “I am really benefited by this water filter.”

BioSand water filters are providing thousands of people with the precious necessity of pure water every day. Until now thousands of families have received BioSand water filters through the clean water project of the church.
