Majuli, the only river island district in India, faces severe flooding and bank erosion, every year. This year, over 80,000 people in 140 villages were affected by the fury of the floods, and most of Majuli was in danger of going under water, leading to a shortage of essential commodities.
To help the people affected by floods, Believers Church Diocese of Majuli held relief supply distributions at two places on 31st August 2017 where dry ration items were distributed to 300 flood-hit families.
A total of 3.9 tonnes of dry rations consisting of rice, dal, salt and mustard oil were distributed among the flood victims.
