Bridge of Hope in Believers Church Diocese of Jorhat organized a gift distribution program in a refugee camp on 2nd September 2014. They distributed 60 blankets and 200 ration kits containing rice and other food supplies to refugees.
The people in this refugee camp are victims of a recent Assam-Nagaland border clash. 18 people have been killed, over 60,000 people have been displaced and hundreds of houses have been burned as a result of the violence. The affected people were shifted to 14 different relief camps. They lost everything and had no hope.
So, to bring some hope and to show some compassion, the church decided to distribute some gifts among them. Bishop B. Sunderraj distributed the gifts to 260 families and they were all happy for the concern the church showed to them in the midst of their difficult situation.
Believers Church meet the needs of those in crisis through disaster relief and social welfare programs.
