On 27th Aug 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Chennai organized a community development program where 25 free sewing machines were distributed to the graduates of a tailoring center.
Mr. Saravanan (Municipality Chairman) was the chief guest for the program. Other dignitaries present at the event were Mr. Kapildev (Municipality Counselor), Mr. Saravanan (Municipality Counselor), Mr. Yokesh Kannan (Municipality Counselor) and Mr. Vijaya Kumar (Municipality Counselor).
The chief guest distributed tailoring machines and certificates to the second batch of 25 vocational trainees. After happily receiving the gifts and certificates, the tailoring graduates shared their testimony about how they were benefited through the tailoring classes offered by Bridge of Hope.
Most of them come from families that live below the poverty line and earn a living through working in tea estates. The income they get is barely enough to meet their daily needs. But, now, as the women have learned a new trade and have a sewing machine of their own, they would be able to start a tailoring business and support their families financially.
