Believers Church Diocese of Patna inaugurated 200 new bore wells in two Districts of Bihar on 21st and 22nd March 2017, to mark the occasion of World Water Day.
The chief guests for the inauguration ceremony held on 21st March were Shri. Shrawan Kumar (Minister of Rural Development, Govt. of Bihar) and Mr. Niranjan Kumar Mehata (MLA). They appreciated the church for installing wells for the poor and solving water crisis faced by people in remote areas.
The villages where the wells were installed are located in the interior parts of the two districts and are less developed. The people of these villages are very poor and solely dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. A common problem they all faced was water shortage. While fetching water from public wells, some of them even faced discrimination from others due to caste differences. So they resorted to taking water from open wells and ponds which were not safe for drinking purposes and resulted in a lot of health problems.
Now these villagers are happy that they have a well installed in their locality. They are grateful to the church for taking efforts to get their village a new water source.
Mr. Rajesh Singh, a village head, said, “The Church has done a great help for my village as from now on we will get pure and clean water from the bore well the church has installed for us”.
