On 1st December 2010, Believers Church Haryana held an awareness rally in Ambala for World AIDS Day.
Around 200 people enthusiastically participated in the rally, including Bridge of Hope students, Minor Seminary students, Women’s Fellowship members and the Believers Church office staff.
Mr. Rajesh (local Municipal Councillor) inaugurated the rally. Rev. Fr. Kurian (Vicar General) offered the opening prayer and then led the awareness march.
The group walked for an hour, covering almost 3 Km in Ambala, and shared facts about AIDS and HIV to the community.
Rev. Fr. Kurian also gave a special message to the Minor Seminary students and staff on this occasion. He explained that people often treat AIDS victims differently and are afraid to even shake their hands. He challenged the group not to behave badly towards AIDS patients, but to love them as Jesus has loved everyone. He also emphasized their responsibility to raise awareness in society, not only about AIDS, but against all evils that come against humanity.
Awareness events like this were held throughout South Asia by Believers Church in honor of World AIDS Day. These programs educated thousands on how to prevent the spread of AIDS.
