On June 9, 2024, the Believers Eastern Church Archdiocese of Kathmandu, Nepal, organized a Commissioning Service for the 23rd batch of the Sisters of the Cross at St. Peter’s Believers Eastern Church in Bhimnagar.
A group of 18 sisters, who have successfully completed nine months of rigorous training, were officially inducted into the Order of the Sisters of the Cross.
His Grace Titus Mor Osthathiose Episcopa, Archdiocese of Kathmandu, presided over the solemn service. The event saw the presence of church leaders, including the Diocesan Vicar of Kohalpur, the District Leader of Chitwan, and the National Women’s Fellowship Leader. Additionally, clergy, ordained pastors, pastors, and missionaries from Believers Eastern Churches of Chitwan district gathered to witness and grace the occasion with their valuable presence.
The service commenced with a procession of the candidates and leaders, accompanied by hymnal singing. The Episcopa led the service, dedicating and commissioning the 18 sisters into the Order. Each sister took an oath before the Honourable Episcopa and the congregation, pledging to remain faithful to God and to the service of the Holy Church in fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ. They then submitted their signed pledge letters to the Episcopa and received a cross, symbolizing self-denial, love for Christ, and a life of sacrifice.
During the service, His Grace Titus Mor Osthathiose Episcopa delivered a powerful message on sacrificial service based on God’s Word. He thanked the sisters for their commitment and encouraged them to extend God’s love to the poor, needy, and helpless, following the example of Jesus Christ. The Episcopa concluded the service by offering prayers for guidance and strength for the newly commissioned sisters as they embark on their spiritual journey. The sacred service ended with a word of prayer and benediction.
Sister Kalpana Basel expressed her gratitude, saying, “God has blessed me by helping me to enter into the order of the Sisters of the Cross. The responsibility that I have received today will be carried with great joy and thankfulness. I will also try to make a positive difference in the lives of people through my service. I thank Believers Eastern Church for preparing me for His service.”
