On 7th October 2014, the commissioning service of 135 Sisters of Compassion was held at Believers Church Synod Secretariat. This service marked their official enrollment into the sisters order of the Church.
Bishop Dr. Samuel Mathew was the chief guest. He prayed for the sisters and presented them with white saris, which identify them as Sisters of Compassion. He also encouraged the sisters to serve the needy and downtrodden.
The sisters were very happy for the opportunity they have been given to serve people in need. “God has chosen me from the midst of this many people and I am so happy for that,” said Sis. Sarala. “I’m so privileged to serve God through this ministry.”
These sisters will be dedicated to work among the slum dwellers, leprosy patients, widows and slum dwellers after the completion of their six-month long training.
