On 23rd June 2014, International Widows Day, a team of Women’s Fellowship and Sisters of Compassion from the Diocese of Gujarat distributed dry rations among widows.
Around 112 widows were benefited from the program and each person received a packet of rice, atta, dal, sugar, salt, tea leaves, washing soap and bathing soap.
Mr. Shantilal Bhai Parmar (social activist) was the chief guest of the program. He appreciated the work of the church among the poor and the needy especially among widows who are rejected by the society.
Sis. Goriben said, “No one likes to talk to widows; even our in-laws don’t want us to be a part of the family. But today the church gives us a great hope in our life.”
Believers Church empowers women through many projects, including vocational training and adult literacy programs.
