On 8th March 2013, Believers Church Udaipur Diocese made food packets to feed the hungry.
Diocesan staff and Women’s Fellowship leaders took the packets of rice and mixed vegetables to 100 beggars and slum dwellers. The situation of these people was really pathetic. One group of children was begging in a bus stand. They were so excited to get food that they immediately sat down on the corner and started eating.
Two old ladies lay on the side of the bus stand, without food for many days. They were too feeble to walk or even get up to eat. But our team helped them up from the ground and opened the food packets for them. The women pressed their hands together in gratitude.
Later, the team went to a nearby slum. The slum inhabitants earn a meager living by making brooms out of palm tree leaves to sell. Their children usually ask for alms near a temple or in a traffic junction. They were very happy to get food packets. Due to extreme hunger, some devoured the meal within a few seconds. “You will be blessed,” a few older mothers said to the distribution team.
Believers Church indeed counts it a blessing to improve the lives of the poor and downtrodden.
