On 8th September 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Changlang conducted an awareness program in a remote village in commemoration of International Literacy day.
Around 100 illiterate women attended this program, organized by a Women’s Fellowship team. The resource persons shared about the importance of the day, the purpose of the program, importance, and advantage of being literate and disadvantages of illiteracy.
During a practical teaching session, one of the students of adult literacy class shared her experience of how she learned to write English and Hindi letters and read simple words through the literacy classes offered by the church. She also came forward and wrote the alphabets on the board, in front of everyone. Inspired by her success, many of the participants expressed a desire to learn how to read and write and thanked the church for offering literacy classes for them.
