On 18th July 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Kolkata held a gift distribution program in a village where income-generating tools and other basic items of life were distributed to 126 destitute widows. This program, aimed at extending help to widows in need, was the fourth phase of the gift distribution drive which was launched in connection with International Widows Day.
Mr. Khannay Chandra Mandal (MLA) and Mr. Samir Kumar Bhaboth (Block President) were the chief guests for the program. In their remarks, the chief guests lauded the welfare activities of Believers Church.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan, the Bishop of Diocese of Kolkata, encouraged the widows gathered there and assured them of church’s help in the time of need.
At the end of the program, Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan and Mr. Khannay Chandra handed out the gifts to the widows. A total of 50 widows received goats, 46 widows received blankets of good quality, and another 30 widows received mosquito nets on that day.
